How description, analysis and evaluation are used in academic writing.
Welcome to our newsletter. Here is our next new lesson creation for academic writing skills - 'description, analysis and evaluation'. I've lost count of the number of times students have asked me 'what's the difference between analysis and evaluation?'. Well here is a lesson that helps students to understand the three key concepts.
Of course, in order to fulfil the requirements of academic study, students need to demonstrate that they are able to incorporate description, analysis and evaluation into their work. This is done through asking a range of different questions.
Description: To give a clear and detailed picture of something.
Analysis: To make a methodical and detailed examination.
Evaluation: To make judgements about the value of information.
