Academic English Tests
Hi Everyone,
Welcome to our newsletter. Over the last few weeks we've been working on a range of academic tests. Each test includes an academic reading, summary writing, lecture listening and seminar speaking. All texts are written and created by us and we dedicate a considerable amount of time in researching, creating, proofreading and testing before releasing. We've written five tests (20 lessons / tests in total) and have focused on original, up-to-date 2022 topics.

An overview of our thoughts behind these lessons:

We've always believed that students should really spend time exploring a text and its topic as much as possible. These tests / lessons really do this through reading a text (example) in detail and answering questions, identifying the main ideas to produce a summary (example) and then apply critical thinking techniques to a text that the students know well. The listening lecture (example) is on the same topic as the reading text but may be one element of the topic, a related issue or a case study. It includes a professionally recorded lecture and Power Point slides. The students can be given a copy of the slides to take notes on and then use their notes to answer the test questions. The speaking seminar (example) is where the students bring the two texts (reading and listening) together. They are given time to prepare before the seminar to take notes on the similarities and differences, key arguments and credible evidence, as well as questioning some of the ideas in the texts.
