Welcome to our newsletter. This week we've created a really interesting lesson based on 'Front Groups'. This is a highly controversial area and inspires students to question the tactics of some of the most powerful companies in the world.
A front group is a type of independent organisation but is set up and funded by other corporations (tobacco, alcohol & oil industries) with the purpose of influencing public interest. They tend to create marketing strategies and propaganda campaigns based on unproven scientific evidence to sow doubt, mislead or/and provide misinformation into the minds of the general public to prevent change or distort the truth.
The reading text provides definitions of the key terms and looks at the results of two studies into gender and ethnic representation and inclusion. The listening text focuses on unconscious bias and unequal pay.
