Academic Resolutions 2023 AEUK
Hi everyone, welcome to our next newsletter. This week we've created a free lesson on academic resolutions. This lesson can be used anytime throughout the academic year but works really well in December and January as 'New Year's Resolutions'.

Academic Resolutions are effective changes or goals that students can make to enable them to achieve greater success in academia. Regularly setting new plans and critically evaluating them is an essential life skill which in turn can constitute a more successful level of goal achievement.

The lesson aim: To support students in their understanding of how description, analysis and evaluation are used through creating resolutions.

Lesson summary: Students discuss the 10 academic resolutions and then apply critical thinking skills (analysis and evaluation) to each one. They look at what will be done (description), why it's important and the strengths and weaknesses (analysis), then they think about how achievable it is and what problems they may incur (evaluation). The lessons finishes with a group seminar.
